Sustainability

Is your packaging ‘green’?

Yes, our packaging is very green. We use Pulpsafe packaging which is made from 100% recycled material. The packaging itself is recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable. It is also made in the UK. Even the tape we use to seal the boxes is environmentally friendly, it is made from paper and uses starch as an adhesive. The tape is recyclable and reduces waste as it requires a minimal amount of tape to seal the box due to it being stronger and tamper proof.

How 'green' are your deliveries?

All our deliveries are Carbon Neutral. Find the info by clicking HERE!

DPD have a comprehensive Green Plan (https://green.dpd.co.uk/) that includes increasing their electric fleet, green packaging, energy and waste management and monitoring air pollution.

How sustainable are your wines?

We try and gather as much information on our producers as possible in terms of their environmental and sustainable impact. Most of our wines are made by small, family run producers who are fundamentally farmers and care deeply about their impact on the planet. They are often 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation winemakers and are keen to pass on their Domains to their children. For example: Mauricio Lorca, who makes our Lorca Fantasia wines uses state of the art drip irrigation, an expensive method that is 95% efficient as opposed to traditional flood irrigation which only uses 40% of the water for irrigation with 60% of the water going to waste. They also use thinner, lighter, and smaller bottles which helps reduce their CO2 emissions when transporting their wine across the globe.

Of course we can’t keep tabs on everything that our wine producers do but they are aware of our sustainability aims so we hope that if any changes are made they’ll let us know.
