Bodega Atamisque Catalpa Single Vineyard Chardonnay
Recently included in Decanter’s ‘Top South American Chardonnay under £20’ tasting and given a very impressive 92 points! Tim Atkin MW describes it as “Proper Chardonnay!”
Produced by Bodega Atamisque, one of the top estates in Argentina, this complex chardonnay boasts superb quality fruit and a touch of oakiness to add body and savoury notes. Half fermented in oak and around 50% is matured in new French oak to add body and some lovely honeyed vanilla touches to go with the citrus and tropical fruit.
Food Pairing – white meat is a good one here, or rich veggie dishes like asparagus, poached egg and hollandaise. We just love it as an aperitif; make sure to take it out of the fridge 15 mins or so before you drink it to allow some of the more subtle flavours to emerge.
