Domaine Bachelet-Monnot, Bourgogne Blanc

£23.99

In January 2005, after years of travelling France and the rest of the world gaining vital wine-making experience, two budding young vignerons, brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet, set up this Domaine that spans 10 hectares over the Maranges, Santenay and Puligny-Montrachet regions. This Bourgogne Blanc is a beautiful example of the skill and quality of grapes that go into all Monnot wines. This wine is made from de-classified Puligny-Montrachet grapes, so this might as well be labelled ‘Puligny-Montrachet’! These guys are known for using higher quality grapes than they need to. What do we mean by that? Well, the Domaine Monnot Puligny-Montrachet is made using 45% Premier Cru fruit so you’re getting much more bang for your buck. It’s even conceivable that there is some of this 1er Cru fruit in this!
As soon as you bring the glass to your nose, you’re hit with hot buttered toast closely followed by lemon peel, crunchy green apple and creamy smoke. On the palate you get extra creaminess and a full body, added candied lemon, lemon curd, a beautiful acidity and long finish.

Food Pairing – for a classic wine go with classic pairings. Anything in a buttery or creamy sauce (hollandaise, bearnaise etc), grilled fish, seared scallops, crab, wild mushrooms and mild to medium cheeses.
