Domaine Taupenot-Merme Auxey-Duresses Rouge
We tasted quite a few vintages of this side by side, and although the 2014 was not the oldest, it was by far and away the tastiest. More mature than its vintage suggests there are some lovely red fruit and darker black berries followed by some classic earthy notes, you often see good quality Pinot Noir described as having a ‘forest floor’ taste and with this wine you can see why! Auxey-Duresses is just a few miles south-west of Pommard in the heart of Burgundy where the wines are three times the price and just as tasty as this!
Food Pairing – gamey dishes such as grouse, pheasant and partridge or anything with truffles.
