Sauvignon de Touraine, Domaine des Petits Faiteaux
A 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, about 100 miles west of Sancerre. The vineyards are located slightly further inland, which gives them a slightly warmer climate. This extra heat allows the grapes to fully ripen which gives the wine much more apricot and peach flavours than you’d normally get in a typical wine from this region. Touraine is a fairly large region so it took us a while to find a wine we really loved but it as worth the effort. Much more complex than the usual wines from this area, you get lovely citrus, apple, pear AND peach and apricot. It is a very clean, crisp and highly refreshing wine that overdelivers on price vs flavour!
Food Pairing – the extra zing in this wine can cope with oilier fish like mackerel and sardines. Big garlicky prawns, whitebait and fish goujons are sure fire winners.
