Edoardo Miroglio’s beautiful Soli Merlot has something of the right bank of Bordeaux about it, think Saint-Emilion! There are notes of both fresh and baked red and black plums, blackberry, blackcurrant, autumn leaves and something else savoury, mysterious and warming on the finish.
Edoardo used to own vines in Barolo but on a business trip to Bulgaria noticed the incredible potential for premium grapes from the area. They settled on a piece of land on the eastern side of the Thracian Valley, with the Saint Ilia hills shading the area from the freezing Baltic winds whilst a natural lake nearby regulates the temperature. This culminates in a perfect environment for growing grapes, and you can see it all in this super tasty merlot.
Food Pairing – Mild to medium hard cheese, fennel sausages, lasagne, roast turkey and chicken, pork or rabbit casserole.
